FUNDRAISING INFO

Even as travel restrictions ease around the world, there are still parts of the world that are difficult to visit. We can provide this opportunity online through this virtual challenge, following a route that many Karen refugees take.
You can enjoy a country that thousands of Karen people love but are unable to appreciate as they are forced to flee their homes.
And you can do this while going about your daily exercise.
Internal displacement continues in many areas of Myanmar as ceasefire agreements are broken. This is a protracted crisis and REI has been supporting projects for Myanmar refugees and IDPs for over 20 years. We see the benefits of previous funding as those who were empowered through project activities are now able to provide support to those within their own communities.
You can continue this important support as you walk, run, cycle with friends along the way. Even if you don’t complete the route – and, don’t worry, many don’t – you can still learn something of the local culture, flora, fauna and REI funded projects.

Education, job creation, legal and human rights, and environment and community building are the four pillars that influence the type of projects that REI selects to empower refugees. Legal and human rights are essential to the dignity of every refugee as being able to return to their country of origin and rebuild is core to our mission. Opportunities for job creation empower refugees and communities become more resilient, providing a sense of security and unity. Education is essential to everyone equipping us with knowledge and skills needed for a fulfilling and productive life.

Share your progress with your friends and family on social media and update your sponsors along the way. Encourage friends and family to sponsor you by the km - we will issue certificates at the finish to confirm your achievement.
