Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. Since Oxfam first started in 1942, we have challenged the underlying causes of poverty, while supporting people to cope when disaster strikes. Every day, Oxfam is helping thousands of communities around the world work their own way out of poverty.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Oxfam has responded in 62 countries providing public health awareness, safe water and sanitation, food and cash vouchers where needed, all key to disease prevention and have been areas of our core work for decades. We have longstanding operational experience in responding to public health emergencies and our expertise is informed by lessons from past epidemics like cholera, Zika and Ebola.
For each £15 Oxfam receive, we could help more women to understand their rights, challenge discrimination and to take up leadership roles within their local communities.
For each £35, we could ensure families have access to emergency food supplies.
£45 could provide one of our new handwashing stations to enable frequent handwashing and disease prevention.
With your support, communities can come together to help each other. We couldn’t do the live-saving work we do without you. Whether it is tackling the impact of conflict, Covid-19, the climate crisis or emergencies, Oxfam is there to help communities thrive, not just survive.
