WHITEHORSE ROTARACT POLIO CHALLENGE

ABOUT THE GROUP

Polio is a debilitating disease that has havocked millions of people. Rotary has been working since 1979 to help eradicate Polio and in 1988 the World Health Assembly launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in partnership with national governments, WHO, Rotary International, The CDC, UNICEF and later joined by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Since then 123 countries have been freed from Polio. There are still two countries still affected by Polio, Pakistan and Afghanistan. With total eradication so close help us cross that finish line and support Rotary in its mission to end Polio. Our virtual marathon follows the route of an amazing Rotaractor as she travels with a polio vaccination team to a remote village in Uganda.
